InterClassics Brussels has confirmed “Rally Legends” as the central theme for its 11th edition, turning its focus to one of the most concentrated and influential periods in rally history.
Running from November 20–22, 2026 at Brussels Expo, the event will revisit the Group B era, a short but defining chapter in the World Rally Championship between 1982 and 1986.
Group B: Performance without Limits
During its four-year run, Group B pushed technical development at an unprecedented pace. Manufacturers including Audi, Lancia, Peugeot and Ford produced lightweight, high-output machines that redefined rally performance.
With outputs approaching 600 horsepower and the widespread adoption of all-wheel drive, these cars transformed rally stages into high-speed, high-risk environments. Spectator access remained largely unrestricted, contributing to an atmosphere that briefly elevated the championship’s global profile to rival that of Formula 1.

Short Era with Lasting Impact
Despite its technical achievements, Group B came to an abrupt end following a series of high-profile incidents. Its cancellation after the 1986 season marked a shift toward stricter safety and regulatory oversight in rallying.
What remains is a legacy that continues to influence both competition and road car development, particularly in areas such as drivetrain technology and lightweight construction.
