Pascal Wehrlein’s Championship-Winning Porsche 99X Electric Goes on Display in Stuttgart | 🇩🇪

Pascal Wehrlein’s championship-winning Porsche 99X Electric is now on display at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. The original car from the 2025/2026 Formula E season joins the collection as the museum marks 75 years of Porsche motorsport with its special exhibition, “Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport.”

For visitors, the addition brings a recent world championship winner into a museum best known for tracing Porsche’s road-car development and racing history. The 99X represents the marque’s most successful single-seater program to date, with Porsche crediting its GEN3-era model with six of the ten available FIA world championship titles.

A Championship Car in Heritage Colors

Wehrlein secured his second Formula E Drivers’ Championship at the season finale in London on August 16. Three weeks earlier, Porsche had claimed its second Manufacturers’ Championship at the penultimate race weekend in Tokyo.

The museum car retains the historic color scheme it wore at the London finale. Drawing on several Porsche racing liveries from the 1980s, the design connects the electric single-seater with earlier chapters of the company’s competition history.

That connection continues through “Raceborn,” which runs until January 17, 2027. The exhibition marks a motorsport history that began in 1951, when a Porsche 356 SL took a class victory at Le Mans.

From Weissach to Zuffenhausen

Before entering the collection, Wehrlein’s car underwent final preparations at Porsche’s motorsport facilities in Weissach. It then traveled by trailer to the museum, towed by a Cayenne Turbo Electric.

Porsche used the pairing to illustrate the relationship between its racing and road-car technology. The Cayenne incorporates direct oil cooling for its rear electric motor, a technology also used in the 99X. Both vehicles can recover braking energy at up to 600 kW.

These links give the exhibit a relevance beyond its race results. The car documents a period in which electric competition became both a championship-winning discipline for Porsche and a development environment for technologies used in its production vehicles.

Porsche’s Formula E Chapter

Porsche announced its move into Formula E in 2017, taking its motorsport operation into a different technical arena from the hybrid endurance prototypes it had been developing. The arrival of Formula E’s third-generation car brought a lighter battery, front-axle energy recovery and increased power.

The first Porsche-powered Formula E Drivers’ Championship came in 2022/2023 through Jake Dennis of customer team Andretti. Wehrlein followed with the factory team’s first drivers’ title in 2023/2024, a season in which the team recorded seven victories.

The further-developed GEN3 Evo introduced temporary all-wheel drive. Porsche subsequently won the Manufacturers’ and Teams’ Championships in 2024/2025, followed by the drivers’ and manufacturers’ titles in the recently completed season.

For travelers planning a Stuttgart museum visit, the 99X adds a contemporary counterpart to Porsche’s established racing exhibits. Visiting before January 17 also provides an opportunity to see the wider anniversary exhibition, placing the electric championship car within 75 years of competition history.
