Porsche is taking its 75th anniversary motorsport celebrations to China with “Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport,” a new exhibition at Beijing’s Genesis Centre exploring the races, cars and competition history that helped define the German sports car manufacturer.
Opened August 28, the exhibition traces Porsche’s racing history through 12 events spanning Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. Rather than following a strictly chronological format, the Beijing installation is divided into four themes covering endurance racing, open-road competition, rallies and other extreme environments, customer racing and Porsche’s current Formula E program.
It is a Chinese counterpart to the larger “Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport” special exhibition currently underway at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, where more than 30 vehicles tell the story of Porsche competition from the 356 SL through modern prototypes and electric racing cars.

FROM LE MANS TO DAKAR
Porsche dates its international motorsport story to 1951, when a 356 SL earned a class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The company has since accumulated more than 30,000 race victories, with endurance racing becoming one of its defining disciplines.
The Beijing exhibition’s first chapter focuses on that endurance record, including Porsche’s 19 overall victories at Le Mans as well as its extensive histories at Daytona, Sebring and the Nürburgring.
A second section turns to the great road races. Original Targa Florio and Carrera Panamericana posters are joined by scale models of cars including the 550 Spyder and 911 Carrera RSR. The races are particularly relevant to Porsche’s road-car history, having provided the Carrera, Targa and Panamera names that remain familiar across the company’s model range.
Competition away from conventional circuits provides the theme for a third chapter. Porsche highlights the 911’s three consecutive Monte Carlo Rally victories from 1968 through 1970, the 959’s one-two finish in the 1986 Paris-Dakar Rally and the Cayenne’s Transsyberia Rally successes from 2006 through 2008. Pikes Peak represents the hill-climb side of Porsche’s competition history.

CUSTOMER RACING AND THE ELECTRIC ERA
The fourth chapter connects that history to modern Porsche Motorsport. The 911 Cup represents the company’s long-running customer-racing program, while the 99X Electric illustrates Porsche’s move into top-level electric competition through Formula E.
Historic race posters, racing liveries and archival film accompany the displays, making the exhibition as much about Porsche motorsport culture as individual competition cars.
The Beijing presentation is notably different from the anniversary exhibition at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart. The German installation uses 31 vehicles and six thematic areas to examine racing classes, diversity, innovation, milestones, people and regulations. Beijing instead distills the story around notable races and disciplines, making it a complementary interpretation rather than simply a touring version of the museum exhibition.

A FIFTH CHAPTER ON THE LIANGMA RIVER
Porsche has extended the exhibition beyond Genesis Centre with a related installation at its Brand Pop-Up on the Liangma River.
Reworked under the theme “Raceborn for Every Driver,” the space effectively serves as a fifth chapter and explores how Porsche translates competition into road cars and customer experiences.
Three vehicles anchor the ground floor. The 911 Dakar represents Porsche’s rally and off-road heritage and references the 953 that won the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally. The limited-production 911 GT3 R rennsport represents the more uncompromising end of customer motorsport, while the specially presented Cayenne Passion connects the SUV with Porsche’s competition and off-road history.
Upstairs, the existing Sonderwunsch space has also adopted the motorsport theme, highlighting personalized Porsche projects incorporating racing-inspired colors, liveries and materials.
Together, the two Beijing venues provide two perspectives on Porsche’s anniversary: Genesis Centre concentrates on 75 years of competition history, while the Liangma River location examines how that history continues to influence the cars and experiences Porsche offers its customers.
“Raceborn – 75 Years of Porsche Motorsport” remains on display at Beijing Genesis Centre through September 25, 2026, with admission free of charge. The motorsport-themed Porsche Brand Pop-Up on the Liangma River is scheduled to continue through November.
